OBSERVED:
Myself and 2 neighbors were coon hunting and the dogs started barking a
trail bark as if they were chasing a coon. Soon after this we heard a moan
or howl come from a cove where the dogs were. The male dog started barking
tree bark as if he had something treed. during this time the female dog
came back to where we were acting scared. We walked toward where the other
dog was treed and when we got about 100 yards from the area the other dog
quit barking and disappeared. we found no trace of a struggle and no blood.
the dog just disappeared and we never found him. This was very unusual
as this was an dog whom we could call in anytime during a hunt. We took
several measures to try to retrieve the dog over the next 3 weeks to no
avail.
Activities
of Witness: We had coon hunted
the area around Fort Payne many times and had never encountered this before
or after.
Description
of Creature: We did not see any
creature however the "moan or howl" that we heard sounded similar to a
bull bellering only the pitch was different. I saw a documentary later
in years on a bigfoot in Washington state that had recordings of what they
thought were bigfoot howls. This was the same sound I heard that night

Other
(Informational or Encounter History in the General Area) Notes:
I have always heard stories of a wild human-like creature that was seen
in Desota State Park, on Lookout mountain and in Little River canyon while
I was growing up in the area.
